My conclusion to my music video.

My finished music video.

I am so happy with my end result in my music video, considering my efforts towards making a summer music video in the middle of winter, I feel as if I did the best job I could of.I decided during my editing process I didn't want to put lip syncing in my music video, when I shot the videos of lip syncing I put them into my editing software for my music video but I found this didn't look right. I referred back to my research within my genre and found that newer music videos rarely use lip syncing. Personally adding lip syncing into my music video made the shots look out of place and considering I wanted to aim for my music video to be modern, I felt as if I made this possible. My music video was inspired by many I watched within my genre, I got ideas from these music videos and made mine in their style, this style was making my music video look as if its a travel video. I believe by making my music video in this way made me consider the type I have produced, in which I worked out my music video is a concept music video, meaning it has no general meaning, nor is it narrative or performance based. Throughout my music video I tried to switch between clips to make it more interesting and go back and fourth as if its a travel video. By doing this I feel like my video was made more interesting and unique. Although my music video had no storyline as intended, I still wanted to produce a video which audiences could relate to, by making my actors be as a couple and match to the lyrics of my music video in certain parts.

I really enjoyed making my music video and I feel as if I've made it look professional and like a real summer music video.

How I Edited My Music Video

How I Edited My Music Video

I edited my music video in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. In class we were shown a few techniques with this software which I brought to my music video. I also had some experience with Premiere Pro from when I previously did my group work in making a short film (you can see earlier in my blog) Although most of my editing techniques came from teaching myself as I edited and watching youtube tutorials to help me with parts I wanted to feature in my music video.

Firstly I uploaded all my clips so I could see them all when I was editing.

I would drop any clips I wanted to use into my timeline, on top of the sound track I added (The green strip at the bottom) In order to make sure all my audio from my filmed clips silent and the only audio playing was the track I choose, I had to mute all my other timeline clips by pressing the 'M' on the left had side of the timeline.

I would then lay out my clip I was working on and play it throughout to find any points I wanted to crop. With this video of the sunset I wanted to crop it so it was alined with the audio. As the audio was playing sea splashes I wanted my clip to play for however long until the splashes stopped. To crop my clips I would either use my mouse to drag the clip smaller in the timeline or for a more precise cut I would use the razor tool on the left hand-side of the timeline under the pointer.

I used the 'Colour' bar in this editing software in the majority of my clips, this added the colours I wanted in my music video and gave every clip a more 'Summer Vibe' in which I wanted to achieve. Due to filming this music video in winter but still wanting to make it look realistic it meant I had to use vibrant colours to make it look like a summer video. To do this I would firstly go to the 'creative bar' In which meant I could target the vibrance and saturation of the original clip, Once I used these on my original it made changing the basic correction easier as I could pick up the real colours and swap them for different ones. I loved how this helped portray my videos into the vibe I wanted.

The majority of my clips I also wanted to be slowed down to give a cinematic effect and this is used in many electronic music videos. To do this I would right click on the clip and I would change the speed. 100 is normal speed and anything below is slow motion and above is to speed the video up.

Here I was carrying on adding more clips. and editing the colours.

For this clip I wanted to follow a lyric of time and rain. For this clip I thought if I put the clock into the video alone it would look out of place. So I wanted to somehow incorporate the clock but to make it fit into my music video. You will be able to see I tried a few ideas until I got the one I liked.

I then went into photoshop and created my Title which was how I did my title for my poster and dijipak

Applying transitions
I ended up liking this use of the clock most of all. I did this by placing my video of the clock over my video of the people walking in the timeline. This meant the clock would overwrite the clip of the people walking. In oder to have the clock and the people in the shot I had to change the opacity of the clock video. I did this by clicking on the clip and going into editing and under opacity I changed the numbers until It was how I liked it. I then used some more settings from the opacity menu which included 'soft light' this is what made my clock fade more naturally into the other clip. This clip made me think of the sun over the horizon which matched so perfectly with this clip. To make this clip look cut together seamlessly I wanted to give it a slightly faded transition. To do this I used my mouse to right click onto the very end of the clip and clicked 'add auto transition' this gave me a very faded ending to the video.

I also used the position tool under editing to move my clip around until I liked the way it looked.

Some of my clips involve cutting so its a cut up fast forward. To do these I used the Razor tool and cut up my clip and removed parts to speed up. I really liked this effect as it made it more cinematic.

My Finished Digipak

The Digipak Complete

My Front Cover, as you can see I have my name of the song and the artists name underneath.

I made my CD have the same background so when the CD was in its compartment it matched with its background

Here you can see I have the artist name and my Drifin' records on the side.

Here is the back of my CD where I have included a copy right as well as a barcode. I have all my albums songs in which I made up myself by making all the names relate to the beach.

Here is my finished digipak, I am so happy with how it turned out. As you can see there is 5 pictures in which i made very vibrant and 'beachy' to fit my music video theme. I also have a box crossed out because when I made my digipak I didn't want another picture because I felt what I made looked how I wanted it to be.

How I Planned and Edited My Digipak

This was my first initial sketches of my digipak ideas before I moved onto photoshop

I started planning my digipak on paper by printing out a digipak template. The template I got was for a 6 panel CD case. I used a CD I had at home as a rough idea how things were laid out and fitted within the digipak, as well as looking at pictures I took when I went to CD stores and my research.

After looking from my research at layouts in digipaks around my genre, I then sketched out ideas onto my template of what I wanted to do for my CD cover. By planning out these ideas I could easily go into photoshop and bring my ideas to life. I got inspiration from my research and brought it to my own CD, by incorporating striking images while keeping my packaging minimalistic and modern. To do this I wanted my images sharp and clear, as well as keeping to a colour scheme throughout, The chosen colour scheme I wanted to be was blue, purple and pink. I also took inspiration from my own poster and wanted to use the same design to match both my digipak and poster together, this would also be great for advertising and is used by artists who bring out posters and their CDs making it clear to audiences they're related. My other ideas steamed from my music video ideas, where I have many different sceneries with beaches, I wanted this my over all theme.

With all my ideas together I took them to photoshop to develop them how I wanted.

I started by taking the original image I used for my poster and cropped it to the size of the digipak (A square) I wanted to make sure my imagine had all of the peoples body in when cropping. I then took the same fonts from my poster and layered them onto my front cover.

I took a online template of a digipak and placed my front over onto it.

I then did the same with another imagine I took in which I wanted to use in my CD cover, I chose this picture I took of the sea coming in, I liked this imagine I look because it fitted my over all colour scheme

My Finished Poster

This is my finished poster. I am so happy with my finished project because it is exactly how I wanted it to look.

How I Planned and Edited My Poster

How I edited my poster using photoshop CC 2018.

Below is my ininal poster ideas i drew out 5 ideas i had for my poster which as you can see revolved around beaches and shots in which would be seen in my music video. Planning out these poster ideas helped me narrow down a finial progect. My finial idea came from this series of drawings ,as you can see of which was the forth box on the left with the silohettes, this idea was my favourite.

This is the original image I took which was originally landscape in which I edited to make portrait.I choose this photo because the silhouettes were nicely separated and we can see the models looking at eachother, which shows their connection in which I wanted to portray into my work. I also loved how the silhouettes were so clear as you can see details on their faces and see the gestures they're making.I loved how I made both people in the centre of the frame with the sea behind them, this intentionally made the scenery fit perfectly with my music video.

I then looked back to the fonts i would like to use (for more detail into fonts you can see my previos blog posts) I loved the font above and decided I wanted to use it for the main big title 'Cold Ain't For Me' .For my poster i wanted to promote the music i was using for my music video, this being Cold ain't for me By Oceans. When researching different posters by artists I found that they commonly use a striking image with the song title bigger then the the artist or bands name, seeing this I wanted to take that information into my own poster.

Here is a screenshot of me using photoshop to start planning my poster, I took my drawn initial poster idea and brought it to life with editing. To begin with I had to edit my photo so it was portrait, I didn't take my photos portrait because I thought by videoing and turning them into photos would give me more chance of capturing a perfect shoot by incorporating a realistic shot of two people. By making it portrait in which I had to do in order to create a poster thats traditionally portrait I had to edit in more sky. Luckily this image had a very clear sky in which was easy to clone. I did this by layering my original picture onto a transparent background ,by doing this I could crop my original picture and therefore extend its length by cloning the sky. The cloning tool in photoshop allows you to copy a selected area.
After this I added in my text, my font was off a website in which I could write a sentence in the font I chose and copy and paste it into photoshop, by doing this it was only able to create a black coloured font, because my image had already had black silhouettes, I wanted my writing to stand out, to do this I wanted to change the font to white to make it more bold and different to the corresponding backgrounds. Below you can see how I used a transparent background to put my wording into, I then used the quick selection tool to select the writing to then paint the selected area white to put into my poster.

Once the text was the colour I wanted I started to change the positioning until I liked it, as well as changing the sizing.

Once I played around with positioning I finished my poster, I just added some text saying 'New Album 1st June 2018' in black to mix up the colours, I was happy with how I did this because it made the black silhouettes match with the black writing at the bottom. I then added spotify and itunes download to make the poster realistic and promote the songs over different media platforms.

My Finished Music Video Poster

Creating My Record Label

From my last post on researching designs for my record label I started drawing some ideas to decide how I wanted it to look.

Here are some designs
I drew to picture how
I wanted my Record Label to look.

I also made a list of names I through of down the side of the page so I had a name ready to draw my final design.

This is my chosen end design, I choose to make my label in this way because I thought it could be recognisable to my audience as its very simple but I believe it will fit with my music video perfectly. I decided on the name 'Drifin' Records' because the 'in' instead of 'ing' made the name seem more cool to my audience and also more rememberable. I would like to design my logo in white because I feel it will look best when onto my music video.

I edited my logo in photoshop in the same way I edited my poster, I look my font chosen which was the same was my posters and wrote 'Drifin' Records' on the online software I then copied this into photoshop where I used the selection tool to select my writing to then colour the writing white.
I then looked onto photoshop to find myself a png palm tree, in which i selected and painted white.
I then duplicated the palm tree and put both side by side of my driftin' records.

Once I finished my creation, I merged visible my work so all my separate objects became one. I then saved this edit as a png, this meant that the background is transparent so I could then place my logo onto my music video and other places it needs to be and I wouldn't have to do anymore editing to get rid of the background.
